Nicky Mann - A Dozen Roses Nicky & her family migrated to Australia from Zimbabwe in November 2002, after being forcefully evicted from their family farm of more than 20 years. The Mann family re-established themselves on the Central Coast of New South Wales growing hydroponic roses. The experience of cultivating 6 hectares of roses in Zimbabwe for export around the world stood Nicky and her husband Wade in good stead re-establishing in Australia. In the 7 years of being in Australia –the business, A Dozen Roses & now Roses2Go – has won Florist of the Year 2007 & 2009; The 2008 Yellow Pages Business Champions Award; Top 5 Most Outstanding Business on the Central Coast nomination and Nicky herself has won a “Pride of Workmanship Award” from Rotary & the 2009 Innovative Women in Business Award |

Elly Nederhoff Elly Nederhoff is a researcher and consultant in greenhouse technology with a wide experience in greenhouse climate control, energy, water treatment, crop management and more. She was born and trained in the Netherlands, and worked for twelve years at the Glasshouse Crops Research Station in the Westland. In 1995 she immigrated to New Zealand, where she worked at research institutes in Palmerston North and established her consultancy business, Crophouse Ltd. Recently she had a 15-month stint in the Netherlands, working at the University of Wageningen (b.u. Greenhouse Horticulture). Currently she works for ‘Wageningen’ while living in New Zealand. Priva supplies climate solution products and services to the greenhouse horticultural sector (world market leader) and commercial & residential building sectors in more than seventy countries. Meiny Prins is involved in many innovative and sustainable projects e.g. development of a robot for horticultural purposes, sustainable fishery combined with greenhouse horticulture (Ecofutura), a 70-hectare (170-acre) greenhouse project in England to grow crops closer to the consumer, and a pilot project in China (Sjanghai). |
